By Road from London, Bristol and the Midlands via the M5 and A38
Leave the A38 at the Marsh Mills junction (signposted Plymouth City Centre) and take the left hand lane, (signposted "City") following the A374 with the river on your left. Do not take the left lane after about half a mile to Mutley - continue to follow City markings.
Keep left onto the A379, following the Car Ferry signs and shortly turn right at traffic lights onto Laira Bridge Road. Keep in the left lane.
After half a mile, take the first left exit at a roundabout onto the A374.Then follow signs for Plymouth Hoe (the blue arrows on the map).
Reaching Rainbow Lodge by Road from the West (A 38)
Cross the Tamar Bridge, stay on the A38 for 3 miles passing two slip roads.
Take the Manadon exit signed Tavistock, Airport, using the right lane of the exit slip to the traffic lights. At the major roundabout, follow the road markings to Mutley and take the fourth exit onto the B3250 (passing Texaco and Jet garages).
Head south for just over 2 miles through residential and suburban shopping areas. When you see the new Drake Circus shopping centre in front of you bear left on the A374 and then follow the red arrows on the map.
